How are the fish moving?
The fish have a negligible weight in the water since
their density is almost similar to water, but they must remain in equilibrium
and withstand the movements of currents. For this, they must use their fins.
The swimming of fish differs according to their body and the reason of their
displacement for example a fast swimming to attack or escape from a predator.
Swimming is by rippling of the body and caudal fin while the head serves as a
counterbalance with the tail as engine. It is possible to distinguish three
types of swimming.
Sustained swimming:
Transient swimming:
This mode of movement is made by short flippers
movements also by straight fast departures that by sharp turns. It is used to attack.
The slow swimming:
The fish
behaves like a bird in the sky, it activates its fins with savings. It
is used to move slowly or to stabilize with the current of water.
